Online Effluent Monitoring System: A Buyer’s Checklist
If your plant must report effluent quality to the Pollution Control Board online, the analyzer you choose will run 24 hours a day for years. Use this checklist when comparing systems.
1. Parameters
Match the parameter list to the conditions in your consent to operate. Common parameters are pH, TSS, COD, BOD and flow; some industries also need ammonia, TOC or specific pollutants.
2. Sensor technology
Reagent-free optical sensors (UV absorbance for COD/BOD/TOC, optical TSS) need far less maintenance than wet-chemistry analyzers. Digital RS485 sensors avoid analog noise on long cables.
3. Connectivity and reporting
Confirm the system can transmit to the CPCB and SPCB servers your board uses, ideally without a separate PC on site, and that it buffers data during network outages.
4. Local integration
An RS485/Modbus port lets the same readings appear on your plant SCADA or BMS.
5. Maintenance and calibration
Ask how often sensors need cleaning and calibration, how long it takes, and what spares are needed.
The Senvolt online monitoring system is built around these points. Contact us with your consent parameters for a configuration and quote.
